Full Splits Hanumanasana हनुमानासन

📍 LOCATION: Midtown Atlanta
⏱️ Playback: 1.5X

Tips & Cues:

✶ Be patient and tell yourself that you love you.

✶ Be born with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome if you want this pose to come without effort.

✶ If you can drop into this pose organically, DO NOT forget to activate your glutes and hip muscles to the max in order to protect your hip joints.

✶ Practice half splits prior to full splits to avoid injury.

✶ Be sure to place a yoga block underneath your pelvis to avoid strain if it cannot reach the floor naturally.

✶ Make sure you practice this pose daily if you want to achieve full splits and you are not genetically a Gumby.

✶ Do not try this in stilettos unless you’re confidently dropping it like it’s hot while barefoot.

✶ Remember to breathe.

Intention:

I’ve heard a phrase multiple times while in various yoga classes with numerous instructors: “there’s no sexy way to get out of this pose”.

The definitive resonated in my compulsive thinking brain to the point where I had to do something about it.

Hopefully the case was made that it is possible for one to take themselves out of hanumanasana and make it sexy - if not maybe I’ll just have to try harder next time… 😝
